Knicks square off with Nets at MSG
Basketball Betting Lines
02/04/2012 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The New York Knicks will play their third game in as many nights when they entertain the local New Jersey Nets Saturday at Madison Square Garden.
The Knicks have lost the first two of back-to-back-to-back contests and suffered a 91-89 loss in Boston last night. Carmelo Anthony ended with 26 points and six assists for the Knicks, who haven't won in Beantown since a 101-77 victory back on November 24, 2006. Tyson Chandler recorded 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Amare Stoudemire added 16 points and 11 boards for New York, which has dropped 11 of its last 13 games to fall to 8-16 on the season.
"We need to find ways to be consistent all the way through the game. We're not there yet," Knicks head coach Mike D'Antoni said.
New York will take a break after tonight's game and will get back to work Monday versus Utah in the Big Apple. The Knicks are 4-7 in front of their home crowd this season and are playing back-to-back-to-back games for the first time since Mar. 20-22, 1999, when they beat Boston and lost to both Toronto and Atlanta.
New Jersey has lost three of its last four games and dropped a 108-105 decision versus Minnesota last night. Wolves guard Luke Ridnour buried the go- ahead three-pointer with 1:23 remaining, while Anthony Morrow ended with a career-high 42 points and nailed eight three-pointers for the Nets, who went 1-1 on a two-game homestand and failed to build off a recent win over Detroit.
"He was just on fire. Our guys were finding him, setting great screens for him, he was letting it fly," Nets head coach Avery Johnson said of Morrow, who sat out Wednesdays win over the Pistons with a sore left ankle. "Every play that we drew up for him, he executed it perfectly. I think he was perfect and special tonight. It was a special performance."
The Nets shot 44.2 percent from the field and received 16 points and nine rebounds from Kris Humphries. Deron Williams tallied 12 points and matched a season-high with 14 assists in defeat, while Jordan Farmar added 14 points in a reserve role.
After visiting the Knicks, New Jersey will play two straight and four of five games in the Garden State. The Nets are 5-9 away from Newark.
New York won all four matchups with the Nets a season ago and is 11-5 in the past 16 meetings between the two Atlantic Division foes. The Nets have lost two straight and four of five trips to Madison Square Garden.

MySportsbook.com and Kentucky Derby Offer Bonuses
The 2008 Kentucky Derby has announced a $1-million bonus for this weekend’s 134th ‘Run for the Roses’ and MySportsbook.com is doing the same.
Well, not quite $1 million, but MySportsbook.com is offering a 75% rebate for Kentucky Derby lines. Check out the exclusive horse racing bonus for all the details.
According to MySportsbook.com, the favorites for Saturday’s Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky are: Curlin (+250); Street Sense (+500); Scat Daddy (+700); Circular Quay (+750); and Nobiz Like Shobiz (+800).
Derby organizers announced this week that there will be a $1-million bonus at the 2007 Kentucky Derby odds if the first-place horse wins by more than 6 1/2 lengths – the margin of Barbaro's victory last year. The bonus would be divided Saturday among the winning trainer, jockey, owner and a charity, with each receiving 25 percent. The designated charity is the Barbaro Memorial Fund.
''It's certainly creative, it's certainly fun and it has something for the horsemen, which we always want to embrace,'' Churchill Downs president and chief executive Robert Evans said at a news conference. ''What's really cool is it will force us to remember Barbaro.''
Meanwhile, the Derby favorite – Curlin – is going against the odds this year. It's been 125 years since Apollo won after skipping his 2-year-old season, and not since Regret in 1915 has such a lightly seasoned horse worn the blanket of red roses.
Arkansas Derby winner Curlin – unbeaten in three career races – tries to overcome both those obstacles in Saturday's 133rd Derby.
''We're not running against history,'' trainer Steve Asmussen said Monday. ''We're running against who they load up.''
Six other horses have run in the Derby without benefit of 2-year-old races and with three or fewer starts. The best any of them managed was a sixth-place finish by Showing Up last year.
Asmussen dismissed suggestions that Curlin's lack of racing experience could keep him from the winner's circle.
”He exudes confidence and he's got a great presence about him,'' the trainer said. ''I feel great about the position we're in. He's not worried about anything, why should you be?''
The Kentucky Derby is at 4:04 p.m., ET Saturday.
